Are you safe and trustworthy?
Yes! All of our tour guides must go through an intensive vetting and interview process to ensure that they have the credentials and experience to provide tours that are safe and reliable. For more information please review our Terms and Conditions.
How much do tours typically cost?
Our tours run a range of prices, allowing you to find trips that meet your budget. If you can't find what you're looking for, email us directly and we'll help you customize a tour, either by making an adjustment to an already existing tour or by helping you build an adventure that isn't currently featured on our site.
How long do your tours typically run?
They vary, allowing you to pick a tour that perfectly fits into your travel plans. You can find experiences that are just a few hours, a half day, a full day, or even several days long.
Are your tours family friendly?
We have a wide range of tours, many of which are suitable for children and people of all ages. Guides will indicate otherwise in their tour descriptions.
What languages do your guides speak?
All of our Local Guides must speak English, although many are passionate about languages and speak various others.
What happens after I book my tour?
You will first receive a confirmation that your request has gone through. Once your Local Guide confirms he/she is available for your tour, you will receive another email indicating that your request has been accepted and your payment has gone through. You can then expect to hear from your guide shortly with more details about your tour.
What if I have a special request for my tour?
You can indicate any special requests while booking your tour. Before your tour you will also be in contact with your guide directly and you can ask him/her about your request.
How soon before the tour do I need to book?
We recommend you book your tours at least 3 days before the requested date. We can accommodate later bookings, but there is less of a chance that your guide will be available. In this case, we will do our best to set you up with an Aventura.
Can I give a tour as a gift?
Yes! If you would like to send a tour as a gift, please email us with this special request.
How can I customize my tour?
You can customize your experience and build an extended itinerary for a multi-day Local Aventura. Together, we will consult with you and our tour guides to build your excursion based on your interests and length of stay. We can also help you customize shorter day trips. What methods of payment do you take?
We can accept the following debit or credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club.
Why must I put my credit card info in before my tour is confirmed?
In the hope of making the booking process as simple and quick as possible, we ask for your credit card information before your guide confirms your tour. This way, the minute he/she confirms his/her availability, we can book and confirm your tour. If the guide cannot confirm the tour, or cancels at any point, you will not be charged.
What if I need to cancel my tour?
Our cancellation policy has been designed to provide flexibility to clients while still being fair to our guides. Read here for our cancellation policy.
I’m having trouble booking, what should I do?
Contact email@example.com and we'll get back to you within 24 hours to help you resolve your booking issue.
What if I haven't received my booking confirmation?
Sometimes the confirmations take a little bit to process, but you should get them within a few hours of booking. If not first check the spam folder of your email. If it is still not there than email firstname.lastname@example.org
What if my guide doesn't show up?
One of our promises to our travelers is to connect them with truly dependable Local Guides to elevate their travel experiences. If your guide does not show up you will be completely reimbursed. We will also work with you to try to find another adventure at a 20 percent off the listing price. For more information on our cancellation policies please read here.
Why work with us?
We are here to support local entrepreneurs. We provide our Local Guides with one-on-one support, business exposure, connect them with our open-minded clientele, and give them the flexibility to create their own schedules and tours. We do all this while taking only a 20% commission rate, leaving the remaining 80% with you directly. Find out more about becoming a Local Guide here.
What is the process of becoming a Local Guide?

Can I apply more than once?
Yes. We are always growing so even if we don’t need you now, in the future we may.
What languages do I need to speak?
It is only required that you speak English, but additional languages are certainly a plus!
What requirements are there to become a Local Guide?
Our guides come from all walks of life. Some are competitive sailers, international journalists, and even PhD biologists. They are all drawn together by their passions and their desire to share them with interested travelers. If you feel comfortable giving tours, have any sort of experience in the field, and consider yourself a passionate local expert we encourage you to apply.
What prior experience do I need to be a Local Guide?
We look for passionate locals who have thoughtfully developed a tour that is unique, interesting, and authentic. While a tourism degree, certificate, or license isn't necessary, our guides have some prior experience showing foreigners around their countries. Our guides also must provide high standard of quality, customer service, reliability, and be knowledge in whatever tours they host. Our guides are also required to speak English.
What if I need to cancel a tour?
If need be you can cancel a tour. However, please be considerate of your client and only do so if absolutely necessary, with plenty of time in advance. We recommend two to three weeks notice. To learn more about our cancellation policy, click here.
