Where I am today is the result of my two incredible parents. At a young age, they enrolled me in the bilingual school where they worked as bus drivers. When they weren’t working at the school, they drove travelers in a minibus. I used to sit in the front seat and watch the scenery during road trips. I would meet groups of new people at the airport with my dad, and I would help the travelers and my parents by translating for them.
Once I finished high school, I went to university unsure of what to study. I studied public relations then a few months before I graduated, I started working as a tour guide. I guided groups to the most beautiful places in Costa Rica and guided volunteer groups to poorer communities where they helped schools by making repairs and doing workshops with the students. I loved traveling around the country and showing travelers my culture. I felt like I was a kid traveling with my dad again. After two and a half years of unforgettable travels, I decided to get more serious about working in tourism and became a certified tour guide. I’ve traveled all over Costa Rica, and worked alongside nature. I’ve guided stand-up paddle boarding and kayak tours through mangroves and in the ocean, and helped travelers hike and birdwatch. Now I want to use my experience to help you have a great adventure too.
Guiding tours is not just a job for me. It offers me the chance to show foreigners Costa Rican culture and the “pura vida” way of life. I feel blessed to be able to to teach people about the environment. I show them the perfect cycle of nature’s wonders and the magnificent relationship of all species that help each other to keep the world alive.
One of my biggest dreams is to camp for one month, deep in the Alaskan wilderness. I want to surround myself with; the colors of the leaves mixing with the white snow, the sound of a river flowing in the background, bears catching fish, uniquely colorful birds, impressive wolves standing between the trees at the top of a hill. I cannot even imagine what the nocturnal sounds could be like mixing with that unique breeze! I haven't been there yet, but that’s how I imagine my dream vacation, it’s definitely on my bucket list.
