I grew up seeing my mother guide in Cusco and listening to her fantastic stories about the Inca Empire. I remember feeling full of pride and thinking that was what I wanted to do, so I decided to follow my heart, change my life and become a tour guide.
I was born in Cusco and I’m currently living in Lima. I studied English at the University of Central Florida (UCF) and Stetson University in Deland, Florida. After graduating as an English teacher, I worked as a teacher for three years. Later I graduated from law school, but I must admit, my heart wasn’t in it. I grew up seeing my mother guide in Cusco and listening to her fantastic stories about the Inca Empire. I remember feeling full of pride and thinking that was what I wanted to do, so I decided to follow my heart and I went back to school to get a degree as a tour guide. I have traveled to Chile, Argentina, Dominican Republic, and France, and the US. I truly love traveling, meeting new people and learning from them. I have been working in tourism for more than 10 years. I love my job because I get to share the wonders of my country: the vibrant spirit of Lima, colorful Andean towns, and the irresistible beauty of the Amazon rainforest.
Raised by my Andean grandmother, I grew up with her traditions and legacy, and from the other side, my grandmother is from Trujillo, a colonial city strongly influenced by Spanish language and culture. I got two powerful influences that, as soon as I finished highschool, motivated me to look for my roots. I travelled all around South America using my own resources and by creating ingenious and beautiful crafts to econically support my trips.
As I studied tourism in Lima, I had the chance to do some field trips with outstanding profesors who encourage me to go deeper in certain topics that became fascinating to me, as Archaeology, Anthropology and Mystical tourism.
In most of my personal journeys I try to find some places or activities related to these interests. It's the reason why I love to visit countries where I can find Ancient sites to explore, vibrant markets to discover, kind people to talk to, lively restaurants where locals enjoy and share, old bars to open my mind to new stories, and if we go to places off the grid, I like to do my own research to live a different experience based more on outdoors, trekkings and a lot of water. I practice snorkeling and freediving. I've done scuba too.
In my city I enjoy social activities sponsored by independent designers as fairs and markets. All of them offer what my city shows nowadays...Creativity, integration, non massive patterns and Art.
Food is one of my passions; and my city is wonderful to discover tastes, aromas, textures and cooking styles... when I have time off, I try to visit new restaurants or at least trendy bars or cozy old fashion taberns to get new flavours in my own city, that amazes me every day.
My last international trip was to México (City, Oaxaca and Puerto escondido) and in Perú to Chachapoyas, emerging area of lush nature, waterfalls and ancient sites, that's what I enjoy in my personal life.
