In the 1960s hippy-era, Embu das Artes, a town right outside of São Paulo, flooded with artists and became the destination for Brazilian handicrafts. To this day, the town remains as such. Your local guide Renata will take you through this artistic neighborhood to visit the quaint shops and colonial buildings that hold the works of some of the country’s most creative artisans. Galleries fill the town every day, but on the weekends, an open-air market is the favorite attraction of Embu.
You’ll also visit the Sacred Art Museum and Nossa Senhora Rosario church for art from the 17th century. See the contrast between the market’s handicrafts and the baroque architecture of the church. This tour is perfect for any lover of art and you’ll leave with great goodies from the markets and endless inspiration.
This tour is easily accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities.

Born in Santos and raised in São Paulo, I’ve been surrounded by the best people. Brazilians are caring, happy, personable, and fun to be around. I’ve loved talking and helping people since an early age. This led me to dedicate my professional life to working with people in many different forms.
My jobs have ranged from English teacher, human resources for a huge company, and now as a tour guide. I began giving tours when foreign executives would come to on business trips to São Paulo. As our human resources representative, I took it upon myself to show them around. I even work help people moving to São Paulo for the first time set housing and schools. My tours are flexible and customizable. I love getting to know each and every visitor to give them the perfect tour of the São Paulo. This massive city has a lot to offer all of its visitors and the best part of my job is finding out exactly what that is for each guest.
