Buenos Aires is home to the largest Jewish community in South America. This culture’s rich history dates back to the 15th century and still remains strong today. Discover this unique community, learn about the turbulent history, and discover what it really means to be an Argentine Jew during this fascinating and cultural tour. Local guide, Claudia is an expert on the subject and will take you to the key sights, central to understanding the traditions of Argentine Jews.

Representing both the struggle and pride, you will see sights of tragedy and celebration, all to gain a full understanding of this community. Claudia will take you to the memorials of the Israeli Embassy and the AMIA building, both subject to recent terrorist attacks. Later, you will get to visit the beautiful and oldest synagogue in Buenos Aires, home to the fascinating Jewish Museum.

After learning about the history of the Jewish people of Argentina, you will then get a sense of the modern-day culture of this community by walking around the Once District, home to delicious Jewish bakeries and traditional textile stores. Before I was a tour guide, I worked for a publishing company as an editor, translator and writer. Tired of the monotony of working at my desk all day, I began pursuing my passions in art and tourism. At the time, I had no idea my newfound love for showing people around the city would become my job. I love meeting new people and each tour I give is different. My days are exciting and spontaneous, which is very different from my life in the office.

It started organically, as friends from all over the world would come visit me in Buenos Aires. I loved showing them around the city and helping them organize their trips. I wanted them to fall in love with the city, and so I would pour myself into planning the perfect trip, divulging local secrets so they could really have unique experiences. Eventually, these friends convinced me that I needed to make this my job and be a local friend to not only them, but to travelers from all over the world. Over twenty years have passed, and I’ve been hosting tours ever since. For me, everyday is different, sharing my passion for Buenos Aires with an audience of enthusiastic travelers. It’s the perfect combination of my two loves: theater and this city. Let me treat you like I would my best friends, and I will make sure you leave the city as passionate as I am about it!
