Born and raised in Miahuatlan, one of the key mezcal-producing towns in Oaxaca, I have been engaged in the mezcal world since I was a kid. I grew up on a street where mezcaleros waited each day to sell mezcal and when they left for the night, they would store their jugs of mezcal in my grandfather’s garage. So it’s no surprise that I ended up with a growing passion and curiosity about the production and the varieties of mezcal. When I am not leading a tour, I can be found driving in the occasional drag race, making incredible and ridiculously spicy habañero salsa, or preparing my own and the best chapulines (grasshoppers) you’ll find! If you have a chance to come over to my family’s house for lunch, you’ll likely have the best mole that you’ve ever tried, prepared by my mother!
