Mendoza is one of the most beloved wine regions in South America, and contrary to popular belief, its wines extend beyond just Malbec. To fully experience the diversity, flavors, and culture of Mendoza wines, Matias, a Mendoza wine enthusiast and a professor, invites you on an exclusive three-day tour through Mendoza.
On each day you will get to know a different region, where you will visit three very different, but equally interesting, wineries. You’ll start your tour at Luján de Cuyo to experience some of the most traditional Malbec production in the region. The next day you’ll visit Maipú Valley, a small but exciting region that also produces excellent olive oils. The grand finale of your tour will be at the internationally-acclaimed Uco Valley, which has been named “the next Napa Valley” for its use of innovation in wine production.
Each day includes tastings at three vineyards, as well as lunch at one of the top winery restaurants in the region. Throughout the entire experience, your expert Local Guide Matias will be by your side to answer any questions and explain details to truly enhance your experience. Matias is also a professor, so not only is he excited to teach you about wine, but also, if you’re interested, about politics, the economy, and the history of Argentina. Feel free to pick his brain. Afterall, answering questions is what he does best.

For most of my life, I’ve lived in Buenos Aires and worked in Business Administration. Yet, after being stuck in the same routine for so long, I decided it was time to leave behind my life in Buenos Aires and seek out a new adventure. About seven years ago, my wife moved to Mendoza where I had chosen to pursue my calling as a university professor. Not only did I find my new profession, but also my new passion.
Through living in Argentina’s wine capital, I have become absolutely captured by its wine culture and how wine is so central to local life. I love learning everything about wine, from the ritual of its production to food and wine pairings to the importance and traditions behind the annual harvest festival. After immersing myself in the world of Mendoza wines, I decided to extend my classroom beyond the university and start teaching all I had learned about viticulture. Four years ago, I started leading wine tours so I could share with other people my love of Mendoza’s wines. For me, this region’s wine culture is constantly transforming, creating a dynamic and exciting place to visit. Let me teach you all about it; after all, I am a professor.
