As you get to know Chiapas, its own gastronomy will leave you speechless. Walking around to the best restaurants in San Cristóbal de las Casas will take you, on every bite, to a unique afternoon while your guide shares history and anecdotes of the city. Internationally renowned chefs, local diamonds in the rough, and the local delicatessen are the core of this culinary experience. This is where your senses and our Pueblo Mágico guide you through the flavors and textures of our Mexican and Chiapas Gastronomy. During this 3.5-hour walking tour of the historic center of San Cristóbal de las Casas, you will learn about both the traditional cuisine as well as the innovative initiatives some local chefs are undertaking. This experience will prove to you why Mexican Gastronomy has been awarded as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
I am a chef by passion, a marketer, but above all else, a foodie. I believe that the most magical, most diverse, and most interesting food in the whole world belongs to my heart and my home country: México. I developed this walking food tour to improve ecotourism establishments, to preserve and improve the gastronomy of Chiapas and, mainly, to promote the wonderful, yet unknown, food offering in San Cristóbal de las Casas. I’ve been offering this experience for over a year, but I’ve researched and worked on Mexican Gastronomy for almost a decade. Since my main vocation is being a foodie, I’ve visited many places around the world, from Michelin 3-star restaurants to the best (and worst) markets. So I want my guests to think of the tour as more of a good friend who’s taking you to the places he loves to eat at in San Cristóbal, instead of a rigid formula of a gastronomic tour.
